Deacon Bob, a Secular Franciscan, is a native of Lowell Mass. It was there, in the late 80’s that he began his journey of working in Campus Ministry and Young Adult Ministry. His ministry often led him to visiting The Catholic Center at UVM and Vermont became a “second home” to him until he eventually “gave in” and moved here in 2000.
As a nurse, he has experience working in a variety of spectrums from Clinics, Rehabs and Correctional Institutions. Being a Franciscan, he takes to heart the call that St Francis received to “Rebuild my Church”. Bob is a strong advocate for Restorative Practices in hopes of rebuilding a better community for all. This has led him to his current Ministry as Guardian/Administrator of Martha’s Kitchen, a soup kitchen in St Albans, which serves warm meals with compassion every day of the year.
Deacon Bob's role here is a Ministry of Presence, being “present” to all who enter our doors.
