Being a Christian is more than praying regularly and loving the faith. Christian maturity involves a well-ordered life, the ability to build healthy relationships, and both emotional and social maturity. At the Catholic Center, students have many opportunities to grow in Christian leadership and maturity, including social events, one-on-one meetings with staff, and service opportunities.
At the Catholic Center, we provide spiritual formation for students to help foster a deeper relationship with Christ and His Church. This formation is nurtured through a variety of activities, including daily Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, daily Confession, retreats, and devotions such as the Liturgy of the Hours and the Rosary.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church describes evangelization as "a loving response to God's goodness to us, and we embrace it by way of a respectful dialogue." It is not enough to simply know and love God; a natural response to this love is to share it—and to share Him with others. At the Catholic Center, there are many opportunities for evangelical formation, including serving with the Missionaries of Charity, preparing dinner for ANEW Place, collecting food for Rally Cat’s Cupboard, participating in the March for Life, and engaging in OCIA.
Intellectual formation is essential in the life of a Catholic. At the Catholic Center, students have many opportunities to discover the richness and beauty of the Church’s teachings - and to share them with their peers. These opportunities include guest speakers, faculty gatherings, book clubs, and Bible studies.
The Catholic Student Association (CSA) is the student extension of the Catholic Center at UVM. The CSA serves as the voice for Catholic students on campus and seeks to foster growth and understanding of the Catholic faith. We host a variety of events, from service projects and religious retreats to fun activities like hiking and apple picking. Whether you’re looking to deepen your faith, get involved and meet new people, or simply learn more, all are welcome to stop by the Catholic Center and join in our events.
