"Patience is the companion of wisdom."-Saint Augustine

spiritual

At the Catholic Center, we provide spiritual formation to students to foster a deeper relationship with Christ and His Church. This is encouraged through a variety of activities, such as daily Mass, weekly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Confession available daily, retreats, and praying daily devotional prayers, such as the Liturgy of the Hours and the Rosary.

Intellectual

Intellectual formation is necessary in our lives as Catholics, and there are many opportunities for students to discover the richness and beauty of the teachings of the Catholic Church and communicate it to their peers. These include various speakers, a Theology of the Body series, faculty gatherings, book club, and Bible studies.

human

A Christian is more than one who prays often and loves their faith. Christian maturity requires a well-ordered life, a capacity to relate well with others, as well as affective and social maturity. There are many ways for students at the Catholic Center to grow in Christian leadership and maturity, including many social events, meeting with Catholic Center staff and FOCUS missionaries and service opportunities.

Evangelical

The Catechism of the Catholic Church describes evangelization as, "a loving response to God's goodness to us, and we embrace it by way of a respectful dialogue." It is not simply enough to know and love God; a natural response to this love is to share it, to share Him with others. There are many opportunities for evangelical formation, including: serving with the Missionaries of Charity, serving dinner at the Salvation Army, participating in the March for Life, serving at the Emergency Food Bank, participating in RCIA, and involvement in FOCUS.

catholic student association

The Catholic Student Association is the student extension of the Catholic Center at UVM. The CSA aims to be the voice for Catholic students on campus, and to cultivate growth and understanding of the Catholic faith. We host many events from service projects, to religious retreats, to fun activities like hiking and apple picking. Whether you are looking to grow deeper in your faith, want to get involved and meet new people, or are just curious, all are welcome to stop by the Catholic Center and join in on our events.
